I cannot say this any clearer: You will NOT be happy, you will NOT be successful, you will NOT lead an enjoyable life until you stop giving a shit about what people think about you.
You have to stop letting public opinion control you.
Why do you worry about having the cleanest clothes in school?
Why do you take 30 minutes to get ready to hit the gym?
Why do you worry about looking silly by riding a bike to school because you can’t afford a car?
Why do you look at every mirror you walk by?
Why are you afraid of the silly faces you make when you lift?
Why do you care about people giggling when you’re speaking in public?
Why do you have a specific pose for taking pics?
Why do you care if people ridicule you when you tell them your dream?
Why do you worry about people talking about you behind your back?
Why do you care what people will think of your outfit?
Why do you worry about being new at what you’re doing?
Why do you care about failing publicly?
Why does your shoe brand matter?
Why do you care about falling when trying something new?
Why do you care about raising your hand to answer a question in class even though you might be wrong?
Why do you care what people think about your crooked smile?
Why do you care what your face looks like when you laugh?
Why do you let people’s prejudices of you affect you?
You wanna know what’s sexy? You wanna know what’s cool? You wanna know what’s hot, what’s trendy, what’s attractive, what’s BAE?
People who are confident in what they are doing and don’t care about public opinion either way.
People who believe in themselves and don’t care about looking silly are fucking HOT.
Those are the kinds of people I want to be around.
When I say ‘you’, I’m speaking from experience. I don’t know why, but I used to care so much about public opinion that it would hold me back from doing certain things in life. I would let the opinions of my peers and strangers influence some of the actions I took. I wasn’t confident enough to make moves that weren’t popular – I wasn’t strong enough to do things that weren’t ‘cool.’
Looking back at it, it was one of the biggest wastes of my time and energy I could have done.
Don’t do what I did. If you did it, dissuade others from making your same mistake. If you’re currently doing this, stop it – you’re better than that.
PLEASE excuse my language, but you will never be shit until you stop giving a shit about what people think about you.
