Hi. I’m Juan López. 22 years old. Mexican. Milwaukee-born. Fitness freak. Closet chef.
I graduated from the University of Nevada, Reno 17 days ago. I was the editor in chief of The Nevada Sagebrush, the campus newspaper at UNR. I was in journalism for 5 years – 5 of the best years of my life.
But now I’m on to the next chapter of my life. I’m no longer making a living by writing. I just get home from my first day of work as the social media manager at Dreams Realty, an amazing real estate agency in Reno. The people there are amazing. & I’m waiting for a call back from Rite of Passage as a position I applied for as a coach/counselor (ROP is a high school for male juvenile delinquents) which I would really love.
My life is changing quickly. My career path has gone completely in a new direction. This is not what I learned about in college.
And I’m loving it.
But I miss it.
I miss writing about things that interest me. I miss writing about popular topics. I miss saying the things other people wouldn’t dare say. I miss letting my fingers do the talking for me.
So I’ve had enough. Time to start it up again.
I’m going to write again. Often. About anything. Things that are interesting. Things that are taboo. Things I see. Things I dislike. Things I admire. Everything.
I’m getting back in the game.
Just another part of #buildingmybrand.
